The term compassion in the Greek means: To give pity or sympathy to the point of being moved to action. He gave His life for us. The difference is the action part of it. Compassion means action. You could liken it to the difference of God’s love and our own human love. Which would you rather have? God’s love! Something with action gets the job done. You feel it. In Latin, compassion is two words. Command Passion meaning: To suffer together. Two people suffering together - that's compassion! In the Greek there's another word with a very similar meaning: Agape.
